The curtain has come down on the Central Coast Mariners’ frustrating fifth season, with a 3-nil defeat at the hands of finals-bound Wellington Phoenix in the Kiwi capital.
Despite an inspiring yet emotional pre-match pep talk from Lawrie McKinna, his final after five years as Mariners’ coach, the navy and yellow failed to pull off a win in the trying conditions. |

After a disappointing season, Mariners’ coach Lawrie McKinna has announced he will step down following five years as the inaugural coach of the Central Coast A-League team.

The Central Coast Mariners have recorded a famous F3 Derby victory over fierce rivals Newcastle Jets, the 3-nil triumph ending an incredibly frustrating five month victory drought at Bluetongue Stadium.
While the Yellow and Navy’s finals hopes had been extinguished a week earlier in Perth, there was a party vibe in the air for the Monday night postponed fixture. |

The Central Coast Mariners hopes of an A-League finals spot have been extinguished, after a heartbreaking 3-1 loss to Perth Glory.
The game at ME Bank Stadium saw Perth Glory move into the top four and ended the Mariners’ season. Perth's Daniel McBreen who will join the Mariners next season was the star of the match with a goal in the first minute. This was followed by a second goal in the 14th minute. |
