Woman dies following Somersby crashAnother weekend, another fatal crash on the Central Coast's roads.

The region’s 2009 road toll climbed to 26 following the death of a woman critically injured in a horrific crash at Somersby on Friday night.

The 21-year-old Charmhaven woman was a passenger in a Holden Commodore station wagon that collided with a Ford sedan at the intersection of the Central Coast Highway and Wisemans Ferry Road shortly after 10pm.

The woman was trapped in the front passengers’ seat for about 45 minutes before being cut free from the wreckage by emergency services.

She was airlifted in a critical condition to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital for emergency treatment, however died yesterday afternoon.

An ambulance spokesperson said two other occupants of the car, including a 2-year-old, were airlifted to Gosford Hospital. 
 
Police from Brisbane Water Local Area Command are conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
