Gorokan Caravan Park's fatal infernoOne person is confirmed dead after a caravan fire on the Central Coast tonight.

The fire broke out shortly before 8pm in the Oasis Caravan Park at Gorokan.

Witnesses claim the caravan located at the rear of the Wallarah Road complex was quickly engulfed by flames.

“Emergency crews were called to the Oasis Caravan Park in response to reports that a caravan was well alight and the female resident was unaccounted for,” a police spokesperson said.

“It took fire crews more than an hour to extinguish the blaze.”

Police said a body was located in the burnt out shell of the caravan once the fire was extinguished.

A post mortem examination will be carried out to formally identify the body.

Another person suffered from smoke inhalation and was transported to hospital in a serious condition.

Fire investigators remain on scene to try and determine the cause of the blaze.
