The threat of a tsunami hitting the east coast of Australia has abated however warnings to stay out of the water remain in place.
Rising seas have been recorded in Norfolk Island, Southport in Tasmania and now Port Kembla in the New South Wales Illawarra, the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre (JATWC) reports.
Central Coast mother Allyson McConnell (nee Meager) has been charged with murdering her two young sons after their bodies were found dead in the bathtub of their Canadian home earlier this month.
Mrs McConnell, 31, from Gosford, was involved in a bitter custody dispute with her Canadian husband, Curtis McConnell.
